Match report

Revenge is a dish best served cold

Mike Davies

Let's start with a little flashback to last week...

The introduction of the Mercurial Norwegian Ola Eloranta (what a name!) and his hattrick, the thrashing of MTM and above all, we bounced back from a defeat with a swagger rarely seen in the first division.

After the game, I was in the bar to feast on some wicked white Burgundy from our very own Hannah Montana. John grabbed me by the shoulder and started yakking in my ears:

John: "What did I tell you Maarten after the game? What did I tell you???? Explain it to Big Man

Me: "Well euh..."

John: "You finally did what I told you before the game didn't you? Didn't you???

Me: "I suppose we did yes"

John: "You grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck from minute 1 and you absolutely annihilated them. That's what you did!! And it was glorious!"

Cue forward to today, December 14th.

The morning was a rather drab affair. Leaky sky with a nasty little wind. That didn't matter. Coin du Balai was back in town. You all know what that means. Knife between the teeth. Best day of the week.

We were all waiting for the pre-match speech in the dressing room when all of a sudden, the McGrath boys turn up with Coco. You know what they say, every dog has his day :)

Message was clear: copy paste last week and we'll obliterate them. Let's have it!!!!

Daniele 'V2' Mineo Martin 'Caniggia' Costa

What happened after the kick off can only be described as poetry in motion.

This game had it all, marvellous marking from our rock solid defence with some casual crossfield balls to the wingers. rubber stamped and played to perfection.

Noah was displaying all his trickery and playing superb through balls to our deadly duo up front. Martino & Mineo were have a stormer and combined beautifully to create the first goal.

Ok it admit it, it was a scrappy goal but they all count and Martin surely will not give a toss!! One nil to the Brits!

Mister Hodgson has recently transformed in our very own Redondo. Sweeping up everything that tries to get through while making sure they never try it again. A reducer here and there never hurt nobody.

It wasn't a surpris that he skillfully took out another Coin player to recover the ball and play it straight to Agile Agily. A peach of pass later and Costa was through on goal with just the keeper to beat.

In typical fashion, he kept his cool, rounded the keeper and slotted the ball into the empty net. Textbook gegenpressung from the Brits!

2 Goals from Martin on his debut. I've seen worse :)

Half time. No need to for anything silly.

In the meantime, Nils McGroin was giving some stick to Billiet for missing headers that even a pygmy would've scored while wearing the legendary nr 7. Blasphemy!! Fair enough.

About 10 seconds after the 2nd half kicked off, lightning struck.

Nobody knows what he was thinking when a ball over their fullback resulted in Billiet smashing it home on the half volley in true Van Basten style. The goalie wished he'd stayed home for some TLC.

Did he mean it? Surely not!?

In any case, goal of the season contender and the Coin boys were gobsmacked. Game over, thanks for coming, see you later haha!!

From that moment on we controlled the game, had several good chances to score a couple more (left foot screamer against the crossbar after an awesome Martin-Maarten combo) but didn't.

The subs came on to pile on the pressure in the final 20 minutes and to make sure we finished 2019 with a bang.

The Coin boys didn't know what hit them.

More of the same for 2020 lads!
