  2. TOUR to Llançà, Catalonia. Vets w/e trip for 2 games (for 20? players). Arranged by Hughie Gallagher.

  3. AGM held in the KFC Bar in Kraainem attended by the committee and 9 members.

  4. D/D at 'Bouche à l'Oreille' (again) 3-course sit-down meal and 'free' bar (€60/p). 76 attended, including 2 STC guestrs referee, Andreas. Organised by Gavin O'Connor & Neil Wright and MC'd by Roger Waite. Very hot evening.

  5. Cliff Davies/Clarrie Fisher Charity Cup held at Rosières organised by Gavin O'Connor & Neil Wright. 6 teams, 50 participants and won by Gilberto Alejandro Monge Morales' team. €700 raised for 'Serve The City' charity + €400 'Goals Scored'.

  6. Peter Wright (81) member of our first Championship winning team, died from a heart attack in Surrey, England. Brenda Huggins attended the funeral but nobody in Belgium knew of it. (29/11/1944 - 29/03/2026)

  7. "50" MOM certificates introduced as part of a new automated certificate production system (done by Hodgy). First six recipients: John McGrath, Dermot Gallager, Carl Ledbury, Steve Lamarra, Tommy Sejersen, Roger Waite

  8. 4s game (3A) versus Los Extranos stopped after fights broke out following provocation by one of our spectators. 4 of our players and 7 from the visitors suspended for 1 year. Strong warnings from ABSSA, RUR and commune..

  9. RUR T2 reopened (8 weeks late), having been converted to synthetic. By chance we hosted four games against the FC Irlande.

  10. Season started at RUR with T1 recarpeted. T2's conversion was not ready so 3s/V1/V3 started at Genval, while V2 played their Home games at Grez-Doiceau, where they each played three games.

  11. New website, developed by Nils McGrath, went live. It includes a new Weekly Stats module done by Andrew Hodgson. Dave Rowan can hang up his club mouse and take a long overdue rest !

  12. Ken Thornhill (93) passed away. He had two spells at NATO 1966-67 & 1972-75. He played in the 1st team and helped Entertainments Officer Brian White run the 'City Cellars', our Away bar. He donated our 'Clubman Cup', which was named after him until 2024.

  13. 3-Way (with BUFC/FCI) tournament with Ladies, Vets and Senior games at RUR. Organised by Gavin O'Connor. Plan to rotate it annually. Trophy bought by Gavin.

  14. TOUR to Malaga (18 went) organised by Gavin O'Connor & Charlie Deschamps. Small 'minority' Vets Tour to the Algarve ! (same w/e)

  15. AGM held at 'Den Engel' in Tervuren attended by the committee and around 10+ members.

  16. D/D at 'Bouche à l'Oreille' (near Merode) 3-course meal and 'free' bar. 81 attended. Organised by Gavin O'Connor and MC'd by Ian Hoskins

  17. Des Perkins (88) succumbed to a late diagnosed cancer. His last game, as a top goalkeeper was in 2001 at the age of almost 65. He played for all 6 teams. He was ex-Navy and joined the club in the late 70s.

  18. Three year contract signed with RUR. Rent increase based on CPI. T1 to be resurfaced Apr-May25, T2 to be converted May-Oct25. KFC 1-year contract signed with new Chairman, Grégory.Van Melkebeke.

  19. 1s became Champions for the 10th time (at New Arquois) and finished 15 points ahead of Irlande with only one defeat (LXG). Lost 3-1 (pens) in 1st round (64) of the Cup to Azur RCS, who went on to the final.

  20. Christmas party for 70 at 'la Riviera'.(Rue Franklyn), a current club sponsor.

  21. ABSSA celebrated 90th Anniversary at Sheraton Airport Brussels. Nils McGrath and Gavin O'Connor represented us. 'Cecil Thane' medals presented to each club. Steve Gaukroger+1 also attended.

  22. TOUR to Madrid (24 went) organised by Gavin O'Connor and Raul Martinez (ex-1s) locally. One game won 4-1 (Fri) vs 'Izor Navalcarnero'. FootGolf (Sat) won by James Philpot/Max.Verkaik. John Corr MoTour

  23. AGM held at 'Den Engel' in Tervuren agreed that the club become an ASBL on the recommendation of ABSSA.

  24. D/D at 'Bouche à l'Oreille' (near Merode) 3-course meal and 'free' bar, DJ. 71 attended.

  25. Clubman of the Season trophy named after Dave Rowan. It still carries Ken Thornhill's name, a former committee member, who donated it.

  26. 1s finished as runners-up to Irlande, by 18 points ! It looked like the Coin de Balai win on the last day would leave us third but they screwed up on a player qualification ! Twelve consecutive top-2 finishes.

  27. Club entered single teams in ABSSA Senior and Vets Cups. Reached last 8 of 64 in the Senior and last 4 of 16 in the Vets.

  28. TOUR to Barcelona (20+ Seniors & Vets + Expats) organised by Gavin O'Connor with local help from Marc Puig & Rey Pereira (2 games played + FootGolf).

  29. 90th D/D at 'Vaudeville' in the Galerie de la Reine. 174 attended, including 12 guests, many Expats (Chalice, Pricey's lot). Take This' performed. Football at RUR & KFC. Hall of Fame initiated.

  30. Contract signed with Kraainem FC. June 2023 to May 2024 (12 months). Key access arrangment agreed for June & July, but no Bar or Changing rooms.

  31. AGM held at 'Den Engel' in Tervuren. Attended by 7 Members and 11 Committee.

  32. €427 donated to Ukraine Relief, via the Belgian Red Cross, all this coming from our Goal scoring counter.

  33. Rob Mungavin (69) passed away in Edinburgh from cancer(?) He and his brother, Dick, played for us in the late 70s & early 80s.

  34. Vets1 beat Tubifoot 2-1 (in Loupoigne) to win play-off game for promotion to 6A, [then it was forfeited and then both were promoted !]

  35. 1s finish as runners-up to LTC1 on last day. Vets1 finish 2nd to merit play-off game to 6A. 4s complementary promotion as runners-up in 3C. Milos Stanojević sets new scoring record (34).

  36. Brian Lanston (86) passed away in Braintree, England. He was a great committee (V-C) & club member from the early 60s into the 80s. 3s captain 75/76.

  37. Steve King (74) died in London as a result of a brain tumour. Centre back in our 79/80 team when we won our first ABSSA Championship.

  38. Dave Huggins (81) passed away in England. He was a regular Goalkeeper in the 2s, 3s & 4s in the 70s and 80s.

  39. 7th Team (Vets3) accepted by ABSSA and play at Rosieres when the other 6 teams are Away. Vets2 got a complementary promotion to 2nd tier..

  40. Ray Mullen (76) passed away in Wezembeek-Oppem, Belgium having suffered stoically with Parkinson's for a few years. A real character has passed.

  41. ABSSA AGM allows 5 Subs to be used and three teams to be promoted to top Vets Division 6A (like Division 1), for the 22/23 season.

  42. ABSSA AGM awards 2022 'Challenge Robert Stas' (for best club delegue) to Mike Davies.

  43. A real AGM was also held at Canape Apero, Tervuren, after 2020 and 2021's conducted through ZOOM. Significant changes in the major committee positions !

  44. D/D at Canapé Apero, Tervuren (104 people). Special presentations for Mike Davies and Steve Mazurkiewicz who were standing down as Chairman & Treasurer

  45. Three year contract agreed with R.U.R. at their committee meeting. Mid-week sessions in June/July and a 7th Team also discussed.

  46. €700 donated to Ukraine Relief, via the Belgian Red Cross. Half coming from half of the Cliffy Cup (CHS other 50%) and the rest from our Goal counter (342).

  47. Purchased two new mid-size goals (5m x 2m) plus nets and counterweights from Calzio for our use on the grass field at Kraainem.

  48. Contract signed with Kraainem FC. August 2022 to May 2023 (10 months). Key access arrangment agreed for July 2022.

  49. John Doyle (70) passed away in UK (kidney failure), He played mainly in the 3s &4s in late 70s.

  50. Twenty six 50-goal certificates presented, as only 12 100-goal ones had ever been awarded. Of the 26, 10 were still active, 5 still here and 11 had left. Now every 25 goals > 50, while games every 50 > 100.

  51. Lolo Legere organised a trip for 70 of our members to the Union St.Gillois versus Oostende game (1-1).

  52. 1s win 9th 1st Division Champioship with 4-1 win at Tourinnois. 4s promoted to 3rd Division as runners-up in 4B, as 3s relegated to the 4th tier.

  53. Bob Davis (70) passed away in Keerbergen, Belgium after being diagnosed with cancer in 2020.

  54. Honorary membership awarded to Steve Mazurkiewicz for his long and valued service to the club. Engraved crystal cube also presented in honour.

  55. UB/ABSSA abandoned the league season with only four games played because of COVID. No promotion, relegation or champions. No awards or D/D.

  56. Two contracts signed with Kraainem FC. November 2020 to June 2021 (8 months) and August 2021 to June 2022 (11 months).

  57. Season suspended as a result of the second wave of Covid-19.

  58. Season started late with the first two weeks postponed. Mask wearing, group distancing and changing room disinfection imposed.

  59. Training, with numerous health safeguards, resumed at Kraainem FC on Wednesdays for a trial period. Rosieres also used on some Wednesdays.

  60. Honorary membership awarded to Roger Waite for reaching 500 games.

  61. UB/ABSSA terminated the league season after 24 games and the Cup after one round as a result of the COVID pandemic. No D/D.

  62. 1s declared Champions (5 points ahead with 2 games to play). 6th time in the decade ! Vets1 on/off love affair with Division 6A continued with relegation.

  63. Alex Knott, Steve Mazurkiewicz, Simon Yearsley, Mike Davies & Neil Anderson (postumously) awarded "Medaille d'Or de l'ABSSA" (25 years of service).

  64. Committee and Captains meal out at the Ego (Italian) restaurant (14 present).

  66. Neil Anderson (68) died at home (La Hulpe) in his sleep after a long illness.

  67. An EGM was held at Kraainem, after training, to approve changes in the Club rules to bring them into line with UB/ABSSA requirements. Unanimous!

  68. Ady Talib (Vets2) gifted the club a set of short sleeved Blue & Black striped shirts as an additional colour clash set.

  69. 1s unbeaten league run of 36 games (7 + 26 + 3) ended at Nossegem after 3-0 defeat to FC Irlande.

  70. Cliffy Cup held at KFC and raised €650 for charity (CHS). Club supplied 176 drinks tickets at €352. KFC made/sold 40 hot dogs.GO'C/SL organised.

  71. Ken Broady (69) passed away in Brussels. He played primarily in the 4th team from 197?-82.

  72. Contract (15 months) renewed with Kraainem FC for training two nights a week, from 1st August 2019 until 31st October 2020.

  73. Contract (3 years) with R.U.Rixentoise renewed, with rent indexed annually, starting at 700/season/team. We have paid for h/t water since 2017/18.

  74. Our First squad reached the Final of the ABSSA Senior Cup (73 entrants). Beat LXG 4-2 in the semis and lost final (1-1) 3-2 on penalties against Portugal.

  75. D/D at Autoworld Brasserie for third year running (73 people). Organised by Bas Ten Holter. Guests: Maria Rivera (Timme's colleague), Jean Minne (sponsor)

  76. Kofi Aidoo (45) collapsed while playing football and died later in a NYC hospital (heart attack?). He last played for us in 2001.

  77. 1s went unbeaten in Division 1 and finished with the same points, but 2 fewer wins than the Champions FC Portugal (7 draws did for us). 1s also lost to Portugal in the Senior Cup Final.

  78. Jim Graham (72) passed away peacefully in Herent (Leuven) after an infection. He had suffered from Alzeimer's for several years.

  79. Club acquired a permanent Golden Boot trophy and named it in tribute to Timme Døssing with all past winner's names engraved.

  80. Timme Døssing (45) died as a result of suffering a brain haemorrhage on 27th July in Brussels just after returning from a holiday in Iceland to see his kids.

  81. 85th Anniversary D/D at Autoworld Brasserie (111 people). Organised by Bas Ten Holter. Pierre Van Geersdaele guest of honour.

  82. Honorary memberships awarded to Hugh Gallagher and Paul Wrigley (for more than 500 games).

  83. 1st Team Division 1 Champions for the 7th time and the 5th time in 7 seasons.

  84. Contract (15 months) with Kraainem FC signed that will move our training from the ISB to Kraainem FC from 2nd May 2018 until 30th July 2019.

  85. Simone Goodwin (widow of Mike) died from heart failure. We were informed by their daughter Carine.

  86. Peter Levy died (73) as a result of a heart attack causing/after a car accident in Belgium. Daughter is Sharon=Alan (of FC Irlande).

  87. Terry Logan (??) died after a short illness in Bordeaux, France.

  88. ISB give us notice to leave by the end of 2017. Extended to the end of June 2018 one week later. Reason given as campus security issues.

  89. 1st Team w/e trip to Madrid (10 players). Vets2 w/e trip to Llançà, Catalonia for 2 games for 12 players. Arranged by Hughie Gallagher.

  93. Ted Beale (??), former Chairman, 4th Team captain and Honorary Member passed away in Banstead UK.

  94. 3rd Team promoted to 3rd Division as Champions of 4D (with 3 games in hand).

  95. Ally Stewart (71) passed away in a hospice in St. Andrews. Played 67 times for the club, mainly as a Vet.

  96. ABSSA replaced ABSSAMOBILE (electronic Pink sheet) tablets with 6 new Samsung Galaxy TabE models (€90 deposit on each).

  97. ISB resurfaces synthetic Upper Field.

  100. Mike Goodwin (??) passed away in his sleep in hospital. He was 80. Wife is Simone and daughter Karine.

  101. 5th and last Patrick Roosen Memorial game played at Rosieres between Vets, old timers and Chalice remnants.

  102. ISB insists all training starts at 20.30 year round since Paris attacks.

  127. Martin McCusker (56) passed away (in Oxford?). Funeral 27/3.

  128. Len Oddie passed away. He and Harry Schildknecht were founding fathers of BUFC when they split from us in 1972.
