Let’s keep it short, as suggested in the changing room, and remember one simple thing till the end of this season: this is just another Saturday of ABSSA league.
The only thing that counts is a win; we want the 3 points and the rivals has nothing to stress about but interrupt our unbeaten row and reduce our chances to reach the top.
We know nothing is done, yet. Even if we’re proud of our 0 under the "L” column, plus the best defence of the league and the three important 2-1 made in last weeks. Nothing is done, yet.
In a unforeseen sunny afternoon at home, the best day of the week had everything we wanted for enjoying a good game. The mood was positive, the complains about all the songs the DJ plays were served with a nice smile, unexpected old-new faces around (welcome back Nils)..plus the shorter speeches gave us more time for putting sunscreen lotion on (yes in February, I’m still confused) and a longer warm up.
Kris in goal with a brand new defence in front of him, Philpot in a centre position, covering his missing policy adviser compatriot, Hodgy and Kev on the sides and the "vintage” Italian number 5 coordinating the movements, because Italians love to talk, a lot. Headache strategy works, as John said. A solid midfield was the key of our strategy, knowing they use to play in a very small pitch, so SpiderSpencer and his net for recovering the ball, IronRich and his bionic body for runs and dangerous passes into the channels and AntManLuka able to become so little to pass among three players or so big to win headball kicked from their goalkeeper. J-Jake-Joaquin, DoubleD and Sioux ready to shine more than the sun.
The game starts with intensity from the Whites able to keep the control of the ball as from the very first minutes. The supporters were suddenly enjoying the day clapping a couple of good shots from the sides that end near the goal. Apparently it seemed too easy to reach their goalkeeper that our ginger striker, in a tradition of our ginger-strikers, at his second attempts in less than 2min with a lovely one-two, found himself in front of the keeper, but he preferred to pass it once more to the side and respect the lyrics of his new song. However we were too solid to take risks today. A good communication with a short distance between the lines let us the control of the ball for mainly the entire first half. The goal was only a matter of patience.
In fact with a good run into the space on the right-hand side, IronRich control a good ball and shoots on goal. The bionic-shot got deviated by a defender and the perfect new trajectory surprised the goalkeeper that looked at the ball over his head, incapable of reacting. 1-0. Deserved.
The shooting practice continue and when the ball doesn’t want to go in from a short distance, DangerousDaniel tried to find the definitive 2-0 from a very long distance. His shot, full of power, was unstoppable and from right to left, crossed the entire box ending unfortunately on the post. Unofficial sources talk about a replacement of the goal at the end of the game.
Subsequently the attacks arrived from the left-hand side with a very good JJJ shooting first and trying to get a ball before their goalkeeper in his second attempts of the game. Unfortunately the contact wasn’t that safe for him that accused strong pain to his chest.
Once again unofficial sources tell captain Richard heard nothing about and let JJJ play his game even with some ribs less. Wise-man. On the next attempt from JJJ’s side, a strong pass on the ground reached Sioux in the box, good control and good shot on goal. 2-0, good news for us, lyrics adapted.
Game set in a more calm mode.
The second half was totally less interesting than the first, the 2-0. The shy reaction of Chole and the sun in the eyes, offered almost nothing to report. JJJ achieved the possibility to rest, Miguel could run a bit on his behalf and good note about McGrath Junior that was able to dust off some moves upfront controlling the ball, while entire Rosieres was ready to watch the next game.
Three points and a good victory, anyway..nothing is done, yet.
