Match report

2nd Team Correspondent

A good match of football with lots of chances awarding the 3 points to the team that managed to put more in

Line-up: Puig, De Roeck, Rossi, Yugueros (Friedrichs), Si M’hammmed (Pereira), Lo Presti, Legere (Godefroid), McGirr, Pellegry (Wetzel), Lambers, Henriquez

After a convincing victory at home, RBBFC2 were traveling to Wezembeek to face Pharma. A known team, not easy to play, one point above in the table after beating Gecko 4-0 the week before. A 3-5-2 was put in place by El Capitano, with 4 people on the bench. A warm welcome was given to the new compadre increasing the rate of South American blood in the team.

Pharma wanted to enjoy the day and expressed it during the card control with lots of applauses and shouts for each of their player. Yet they did not have the better start and RBBFC were the first to be dangerous: a good cross from Pellegry on the left and a shot on target from outside the box from Lolo were the first alerts. They did however get the first real chance after a good combination between 2-3 players to find their striker alone in the edge of the box. Puig went out quickly, their striker targeted the first post and as the ball hit the post he himself hit Puig's head. A reaction was needed from RBBFC and they did it with great art: Kevin won the ball at the back and found Tarik in the right, who played with Ali to get out of the wing, Ali then passed the ball to Lolo who saw Horacio in the middle and as he passed the ball he shouted T'es seul!!! After receiving the ball, Horacio turned and got the time to get a touch and to see Nick starting a run in the back of the defence. The ball arrived in the empty space, the keeper went out but too late, Nick had already the ball under control and it was chouette to dribble him and score the first goal! Beautiful team effort! RBBFC started strong and scored first, just as it was requested in the changing room.

But Pharma showed resilience and managed to score twice in a row from set pieces. The first goal came from an easy given free kick, ball in the box headed into the net, and the second from a corner, ball in the second post headed into the net. RBBFC looked a bit down but well determined to go back into the game! A long cross from Tarik found Nick alone in front of the keeper, as it was too easy the first time he decided to play with him like with a kitty, from right to left. He did not expect to see the keeper enjoying it and ultimately winning the challenge...

Another cross from the right found Nick again and after a good control he smashed the ball against the bar! The score did not change and RBBFC had to go to the break one goal down.

After the break RBBFC needed to react quickly and they did again. Corner on the right played between Lolo and Nick who delivered the ball to the first post. Tarik was there but his attempt was pushed away by the keeper. Horacio who was camping at the penalty spot was the first to react and he volleyed the ball below the bar! Equalization! From that point most of play was on Pharma half, RBBFC knew they could win this game and was pushing very hard. But the countless occasions never found the net, Pharma defence was holding.

And at some point they almost scored after a good pressing on RBBFC defence: the striker received the ball, turned and pulled the trigger but his long strike hit the bar. Surely their chance was gone, and as RBBFC was pushing the fresh legs were coming in to help. What happened then is what makes football such an entertaining game: things that should never happens just happens, like France losing the Euro final at home…

As RBBFC was trying to clear the ball from their defence, one of Pharma player managed to control it from outside the box and without turning tried to shoot? pass? over the penalty area. The ball went high –Puig’s head was still hurt from the first challenge or more likely from Bruges challenge - and then down below the bar…! Pharma took the advantage. The remaining minutes were not enough and the final whistle was blown, RBBFC had to leave without a point.

Back in the changing room and disappointed from not having spotted the MILF of the season, the team comforted themselves with intimate reflex spray: Belgians were the most involved, Spanish were targeted, British stayed far away and Italians looked after each other virginity. At least Pharma did not win the third half, the guys from Wong were incontestably the champions!
