"Are you going to Leuven tonight?” After having responded at least 5 times to the same question you were able to drop your bag in the changing room and to focus on the game. You could feel the excitement, not only from the team, but also from the whole club. The social event in Leuven is something everybody was looking for, even for those who mentioned a binding contract with their girlfriend – play football and screw me and not play football and hammer nails in a fucking tree trunk - and therefore were not able to join the group.

Thus the scenery was set for the evening and you could feel in the changing room that everybody was looking forward to the best day of the week, was ready to give everything for the last match of the season. El Capitano held his motivational speech, explaining to the team that it had to have fun on the pitch, but by playing as well as the previous week. Therefore, apart from two modifications, the same line-up than for the previous game had the opportunity to confirm its performance against a similar team than Besace.

While warming-up on the moody field, Deschamps realised that his socks were sucking up all the water because of the broken shoes Damien Magaud put at his disposal. Having forgotten his studs he was desperately looking for an additional pair of boots, knowing that without studs you end up on the bench... OULALA! Panicking about this idea, he ran at half-time to the first team players and interrupted rudely John Mc Grath’s speech who told him to "f***-off”. Nevertheless, his patience was rewarded and Tarik lend him his new and shiny boots for grass.

Surprisingly we could not continue our warm-up on the grass pitch, because the referee called us back to the changing rooms for checking the ID-cards. When we saw who he was, the moral of the team went slightly down: Yes, it is really the frustrated guy who needs to live out his authority on Saturdays and try to escape from his wife. Wetzel warned already before the kick-off that he was very picky and he then just confirmed how annoying he is: asking to fix the net in the goal, threatening Vazquez with a yellow card because he was wearing white sporty panties under his black short, sending out people from the pitch because they were not the official deleguee, and so on and so forth. Fortunately Mineo gave us back positive emotions and some excitement while he was chasing the ball in red ‘grenat’ panties (Is he a FC Metz fan?) in our little warming-up game. His muscles were impressive to see and some of the players had to control themselves for not getting a hard one.

1-2-3, WHITE!!! Last motivational shout of the year and the team was ready to take on the fight. Kick-off for us. The ball goes to Legere who sends it long to Mineo. The team moves up quickly to put the pressure on the opponent players and after a couple of seconds we have the first shot on goal. WOW! RBBFC 2 was motivated and you could see it straight from the very beginning. The 3-5-2 system paid off again with two wingers playing high and pressurizing the other team. Compared to the first matches of the season, the Whites (who played this time in yellow short sleeved shirts) have now got used to play proper football on grass: the ball circulates well, the game is built up from the back, the team has more composure and confidence and thus we created a lot of opportunities which were converted into magnificent goals. After 5 minutes, a beautiful cross from Pellegry finds Mineo’s head who smashes the ball into the net. The team is relieved: we have finally scored our first goal opportunity!! This time we kept on playing very offensive: Mineo and Deschamps were very mobile upfront, creating space for the wingers and the central midfielders. A couple of minutes after the first goal, McGirr shot on goal, but the ball is deflected and Wetzel stands at the right place, like Thomas Müller, to control the deflected ball and to send it into the left corner of the goal: his 35th goal in 100 games for the club. This second goal was more than deserved, after a couple of good shots and well played actions after corner kicks. Wetzel was quite active on his wing, combining well with the two strikers, Legere, McGirr and his life insurance, Rossi from whom he says that he likes to have him in his back… Wetzel managed to cross a couple of times to the goal, once Deschamps hit it well, but directly on the goalkeeper and hence no goal. The third goal was the result of a perfect combination between Legere, Wetzel, McGirr andMineo (the finisher): Erwin got into the box and then served the ball between the defending line to Alistair who went into the empty space at the right time. He then just passed it to Mineo "Pippo Inzaghi” who finished the action off by hitting the ball 2 meters in front of the goal. Perfect action by the team! The fourth goal followed a couple of minutes later by Deschamps who shot a magnificent goal à la Lewandoswki after a nice cross from Wetzel who made his defender losing his orientation by a kind of step-over trick he usually does while warming up with Jimmy on Wednesdays – so at the end the drills with the ball pays off. 4 wonderful goals out of 5-6 chances: PERFECT EFFICIENCY!! The team was on cloud number 9, enjoying playing football and nailing the opponent team into its own half.

Were there any chances for Ettekijs? Let me think… Yes… the tall blond striker who was well marked by the three defenders had nevertheless 2 shots on goals, but each time when he saw el Capitano in front of him, he stressed and lost his composure, so either the shot was not on target or Puig stopped it nicely.

In the second half, same stuff: huge dominance, good football and some good chances. Wetzel had one volley shot and one shot on goal from outside the box. Deschamps also shot from 20m, but the goalkeeper saved it well. A couple of crosses could have been better, but at the end it was enjoyable to play and we had the full control. For the last 20 and 15 minutes, Yugueros, Henriquez and Pereira went in and brought some fresh energy into the game. Great to have such a squad where everybody can replace each other. In the last minutes, the defenders were more in the core of the action, with Simone demolishing a player for getting a ball (no foul, just normal) and Guarnaccia who tried a samba dance in the last minute, in our OWN box. While Legere was already shouting at him, he tried to dribbled two defenders but when he realised that he was too ambitious, he just fell on one player, simulating a foul. The ref, being fat and little mobile, was far away from the action and finally gave a free-kick for RBBFC: that was a close thing. This was more or less the last action which could have jeopardised the clean sheet.

Since most of the players were rushing to get the train at 18:16 at Midi Station to head to Leuven (at the end only Daniele and Sylvain were in this train), the man of the match election took place for the first place in the changing room. It was a head to head race between Mineo and Erwin. The Italian striker, moderator of this election impressed with his German skills: 1, 2 Polizei, 3, 4 Grenadier was sung like Till Lindemann from Rammstein singing "Wollt Ihr das Bett in Flammen sehen?” Influenced by the martial tone of Daniele’s voice, Lolo tried to involve him in repeating the famous scene of the video clip "Bück dich” from Rammstein in the shower.

It is a good feeling having won this game with great performance. Let’s keep it up for the next games in January and let’s get the promotion into the first division. Merry Christmas to everyone, enjoy the holidays and don’t forget to keep your stamina with a couple of jogs ;)

For next time, the lyrics of the song are:

1, 2 Polizei

3, 4 Grenadier

5, 6 Alte Hex

7, 8 Gute Nacht
