First half

Possession approx. 50/50 Overall they wanted it more than us and we just could not stop giving the ball away! First goal after around 10mins resulted from a free kick about 20 meters out – strike went over the wall, not much pace but perfect placement top left hand corner.

Second goal resulted from the Irish breaking down our left wing and them crossing to the middle and were aided by a tip on from us giving them a clear run on goal. Alex managed to get a tackle from behind just before the attacker shot, which brought him down (potential penalty shout) and allowed him to scoop the ball with his hand! on to his shooting foot and under Mazza into the net.

Third goal from us, around 10 mins before half time. Some nice play in our corner flag, George finding Tony who picked up the ball on half way line and then ran with conviction straight towards goal and outpacing their defence before slotting the ball under the goal keeper. Great effort giving us an well needed uplift.

Second half

Possession approx. 80/20 Much more positive and composed performance from Vets 2 in the second half with Mazza not touching the ball at all in the half! Wave after wave of attacks and corners from us however we could not find a way through their seven man strong defence. Also plenty of shots and shooting opportunities from outside the box either off target or did not test their goal keeper.

Overall a frustrating and lack lustre performance particularly in the first half against the bottom of the league.
