1st game of the season, we thought we were well prepared for it… But then Jan lost his ID and Luke had to help the 3rds, so we were down to 12. And half us got lost on the way to Louvain-la-neuve... Luckily the ref gave us 10 extra minutes to get ready. It was no surprise therefore that we had a slow start and it resulted in a very easy goal for Penelope 1 minute into the game. But it woke us up and after that we showed what we’re capable of. End-result: a great 2-7 away victory. There’s a strong group of players available now for the 2nd team, if we keep playing like yesterday (or even better) then surely more good results will follow!

Line-up: Filippo, Lars-Gabi-Marcello-Cedric, Enric-Clivio-Alper-Miquel, Timme-Mark.

Goals:

1-1: Mark Wrigley. Penelope played a sloppy backpass towards their goalie, Mark picked it up, ran towards the goal and passed the ball calmly behind the keeper into the goal.

1-2: Enric Jimenez. A funny goal. Enric made a good run with the ball, went into the box, played the ball a bit too far away but still managed to shoot it before the keeper could pick it up. The ball went against the bar, back into Enric’s feet who then could score an easy goal.

1-3: Mark Wrigley. A great goal. Lars gave a cross from the right side, Enric picked it up and gave a backheel-pass to Mark who then shot the ball in the far corner.

1-4: Timme Doessing. Another good goal. Again from a cross from Lars, Timme took it right away and half-volleyd it into the goal.

1-5: Clivio Casali. We had a corner but the Penelope defence headed it away outside of the box, straight into Clivio’s feet though. He didn’t think too long about it, took the shot and made a great goal from approx 20m distance.

2-6: Timme Doessing. Good passing play between Alper and Mark brought the ball to Timme, who kept his nerves, made a few moves in the box, and scored another goal.

2-7: Timme Doessing. Just before full time Time made a run towards goal and managed to complete his first hattrick of the season!

MoM:

Alper Albayrak. His first game in the 2nd team but he played like it was his 100th. Very calm on the ball, always had a good overview, and formed a great duo with Clivio in the centre of midfield. Well done and well deserved!

Keep up the good work guys. This was only the first game, we have a strong side, but we will have to prove it week by week! A great start though, the first 3 points are in the pocket!
