With a big squad available Ledbury opted for an ugly bench to reinforce a 4-4-2 formation to see

off Pharma SC 4. From the look of the table a home banker, but Pharma had not really been embarrassed thus far in the early season exchanges, so let's see what happened.

Tactics of the day, Glover posted to defence with Yearsley providing yet more Yorkshire grit

in the middle of the pitch with our captain, aka Nora and David Batty . Allowing the opposition the advantage of the conditions Vets 1 aimed for a wear then down approach with fresh legs to come on 2nd half.

The early forays reflected the master plan, Vets 1 pushing forward, harrying Pharma constantly in midfield. Glover pulling the hamstrings at the back with Wrigley, Maconald and Morris in total control of the defence. Pharma were finding difficulty to take a grip and gain control, continual surges by Lewis, Bentham and Yearsley with only the final ball thwarting our predators Harbusch and Griffith. This was basically the tale of the first half - Sjerson untroubled, with Pharma struggling even with the wind at their backs to get any momentum but Vets 1 still not finding that final link up to unlock the Pharma defence.

Goal,Lewis chased a nothing ball being shepherded out near the corner flag by the full back. As it approached the line Lewis nipped in, stole the ball and nimbly rounded the full back. Running along the line, then spotting Griffith and Bentham homing in and with a low powerful pass dissecting both goalkeeper and last defender for Bentham on the far post to prod home from close in. 1-0 and the scores were on the doors as half time approached.

Half time 1-0 .

Second half saw the introduction of Erikson for Macdoanald and Cunnigham for Wrigley in defence. The match continued to flow Vets way as Pharma now began to struggle to make any impression. Erikson was taking the ball first and anything that unfortunately stood in his path - usually a Pharma forward. But the fair play ref had experience and good judgement in recognising controlled violence.

Goal, a resulting corner from continuous pressure saw Bentham deliver a fine cross for Yearsley to meet bullet like and steer into the top of the net, 2-0. Goal, direct from kick off Lewis grabbed possession immediately to Pharma's amazement, and to their further amazement proceeded to dribble through the remainder of the team plus round the goalkeeper to slot one and sink Pharma 3-0 . Riley then replaced Morris to add yet more aggression and forward forays up the right hand flank.

With their confidence down and no let up from Vets a shot from Cunnigham from an acute angle managed to hit the bar only to be followed twice with a one two with the bar before Griffith

converted from under the bar, 4-0

Erikson's turn to take up a forward position and carve an opening and a few defenders before going through on goal and coolly putting it past the keeper 5-0. Yet another fine move had Harbusch deliver a defence splitting through ball for Bentham to race on to beat the goalkeeper and earn a fine brace 6-0. With the clock running down, a goal mouth scramble from a corner kick had Erikson on hand to drive yet another into the net from close range 7-0 .

A fine performance against weak opposition in the end but we look forward to tougher contests with renewed vigour and strong selection from Vets 1.
