MOM's - Talib/Maybrey

This was the third week in a row that Vets II were playing against the incumbent ‘Top of the Table’ team. The team was in a confident mood, generated from the sound performances of previous weeks. Although looking forward to the prospect of another tough game, the heroics of previous weeks were not to be repeated.

Some may say that this was a game of two halves. Ecusson winning the first half 4 - 0 and Vets II showing their fighting spirit to draw the second 1 - 1. That said the final score line is probably a fair reflection of a match where a very accomplished Ecusson mid-field played havoc throughout. First half goals came from long range shots, via the woodwork, through to neat moves that left defenders chasing shadows.

Nevertheless the second half seemed to be a more even encounter – perhaps because Ecusson took their foot off the gas or perhaps because the Vets II defensive performance was more solid and the midfield continued to work hard throughout.

Front men, Maybrey and Talib, were left to come deep to search for the ball. They enjoyed the odd run at the Ecusson defense but the attacks lacked depth and support. The only success was for Hughie G who headed a consolation goal from a crossbar rebound.
